On Monday, April 8, 2024, a partial eclipse graced the skies over North Georgia, evoking varied responses from observers. Some shed tears of emotion, others feared it as a sign of the rapture. My neighbor casually stepped outside promptly at 3 PM, glanced skyward for about 10 seconds, then returned indoors, unimpressed.
Meanwhile, I sat with my six-month-old daughter, envisioning her future as a princess astronaut, removing the edge of our pink quilt from her mouth (and the grass and her book). We listened to the cicadas chirping and the birds squawking, embracing the evening chill that enveloped us in the semi-darkness. I couldn’t help but notice the goosebumps rising on my arms, I loved it.
This experience inspired me to reach out to people across North Georgia, urging them to share their photos, allowing us to glimpse this magnetic event through the diverse perspectives and welding masks of others.
