Say hello to your new favorite spring and summer sipper—Blue Moon Blues! It’s cool, refreshing, and packed with juicy flavor that’ll make your taste buds do a happy dance. Whether you’re hosting a backyard bash or just vibing on the patio, this cocktail brings the sunshine and the fun.

It’s a little sweet, a little tart, a whole lot of delicious—and always a conversation starter. Pro tip: serve it in funky, eclectic glasses to really amp up the fun and give your gathering a splash of personality. Who said cocktails can’t be both tasty and totally Instagram-worthy?

What You’ll Need:

  • Your favorite fun glassware
  • Ice
  • Whiskey (Jameson is my go-to!)
  • Fresh lemons + lemon juice
  • Fresh blueberries
  • Sugar
  • 2 blood oranges

Let’s Get Mixing!

Step 1: Make the Blueberry Magic
Grab a saucepan and toss in 2 cups of fresh blueberries, 1/3 cup water, and 1 cup sugar. Bring it all to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring now and then (don’t let them burn!). When the berries start to pop and turn syrupy—after about 10 minutes—take it off the heat and set aside to cool.

Step 2: Lemonade, But Make It Fancy
In a pitcher, mix 2 cups lemon juice, 2 cups sugar, and 3 cups warm water. Stir until the sugar disappears like magic. Add in your blueberry compote and give it a good swirl. Top it off with more water until the pitcher is full. Taste it—adjust with more lemon or sugar to hit your perfect sweet-tart balance.

Step 3: Citrus Boost
Squeeze the juice from half a lemon and half a blood orange right into your pitcher. Stir it up again. That color? Stunning.

Step 4: Taste Test Time
Give it a sip—want it sweeter? Add a touch more sugar. Want more pucker? Squeeze in more lemon. It’s your cocktail, your rules!

Step 5: Serve & Slay
Fill those fabulous glasses halfway with ice. Pour in 2 oz of whiskey, then top with your dreamy blueberry blood orange lemonade. Slice the second blood orange into wedges for garnish—because a pretty drink just tastes better.

Cheers to sunshine, good vibes, and a cocktail that brings a little extra color to your day!
Let the Blue Moon Blues turn your gathering into a party you won’t forget.
